Custură Mocanu & Asociaţii’s law practice is mainly focused on business consultancy by providing integrated legal services to a wide range of companies with its primary places of operation in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca. In September 2009 Custură Mocanu & Asociaţii partnered with Piperea & Asociaţii (http://www.piperealaw.ro) a Bucharest based law firm specialized in insolvency, commercial companies, capital markets and litigation, by opening the first operational office in Cluj-Napoca after Bucharest. The partnership resulted from the continuous expansion of Piperea & Asociaţii’s practice, as well as from the growth in number of Transylvania based clients. The partnership aims to facilitate client/attorney communication, as well as to provide the most efficient and effective legal services through the Cluj-Napoca office.

Our goal is to create a long-term partnership with our clients by giving them individual attention and providing them with excellent legal services. Our firms’ attorneys and staff are easily accessible and respond quickly to client needs by taking a proactive approach. We provide our legal opinions and the required documentation in the language preferred by the client (Romanian, English or French). We are involved in each step of our partners’ projects and maintain continuous communication to provide the best possible results.

Scope of Practice

Within the firm’s practice areas in our Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca offices, the core of our legal services is focused on business and commercial law, insolvency, commercial contracts, labor law, litigation and arbitration.
Our two partner law firms provide the entire range of corporate legal services to national as well as multinational companies from various industries such as healthcare and pharmaceuticals, distribution, FMCG, transport, real estate, services, financial and management consultancy.
We take pride in the insolvency expertise of the founding partner of Piperea & Asociaţii - Gheorghe Piperea – Vice President of the National Union of Insolvency Practitioners in Romania. This expertise enables us to offer to our clients qualified counseling in all related insolvency matters. Our attorneys cover the entire range of legal services to companies in imminent insolvency as well as throughout the entire procedure, including during the bankruptcy or the restructuring process, by assisting and representing all participants, directly or indirectly involved in these procedures.

In the area of distribution contracts, our clients benefit from the extensive and specialized franchise proficiency of one of our partners, Mihaela Mocanu. Custură Mocanu & Asociaţii represents the interests of franchisors, franchisees and area developers, also known as "Master Franchise." We draft, negotiate and advise our clients on various types of distribution contracts such as exclusive distribution, selective distribution and exclusive purchasing.
We arrange trademark registrations and oversee trademark portfolios. Our attorneys draft trademark licenses, software and patent licenses, nondisclosure agreements and confidentiality agreements.
In addition, Custură, Mocanu & Asociaţii acts as outside general counsel for companies that do not have in-house counsel, regardless of their area of business. The firm also acts as special counsel for larger companies on matters within the firm's core competencies.
