Monica Custură

Monica Custură has been member of the Romanian Bar Association since 1997. Having practiced for eleven years, she has experience in various legal fields, both in the private and public sector.
Monica Custură holds an LL.M in Corporate, Financial and Banking Law from Fordham Law School, New York. She acted as Legal Advisor for the US Department of Justice and in this capacity she was in charge of assistance projects for the justice sector in Romania.
She is counseling the firm's clients on matters of business law and intellectual property. She is also a registered Trademark Counselor with the Romanian State Office for Inventions and Trademarks, assisting clients in the trademark registration process, as well as in protection disputes, both domestic and international (WIPO and EU).

Mihaela Mocanu

Mihaela Mocanu holds the only PhD in the country on franchise law, and advises our clients on issues of business law and business environment. She also has a Master's Degree in EU Business Law.
Ms. Mocanu's regulatory experience includes working on the legal team responsible for drafting the legal opinions for the Ministry of Public Health regarding the major project: Technical Assistance for the Revision of the Health Legislation.
As a member of the Henri Capitant Association and Babes-Bolyai University School of Law research team, Mihaela Mocanu is at the forefront of developing topics in Romanian law.

Gheorghe Piperea

Gheorghe Piperea, founder of Piperea & Asociaţii Law Firm is one of the top international experts in insolvency. Professor Gheorghe Piperea PhD also holds high qualifications in commercial and business law. He is a widely respected attorney as well as a dedicated academic involved in legislative projects, publishing and teaching at Bucharest University.
  
Gheorghe Piperea has authored over 40 amendments to the Romanian insolvency law. He also drafted the law regarding the organization of insolvency practitioners and initiated the preventive concordat law. In 2005 and 2006 Gheorghe Piperea contributed to amending the mediation legislation by drafting the mediation chapters and co-authored the Statute of Regulating the Profession of Attorneys (2004).

Our founding partner’s expertise has also been retained by Romanian government agencies, such as the Ministry of Justice for amendments of the Law of Commercial Companies (Law no. 31/1990). Gheorghe Piperea was retained as coordinator of the team of professionals that drafted legal opinions for the Ministry of Public Health within the Technical Assistance for The Revision of The Legislation on Health project that brought major amendments to the national health care legislation.

As one of the top legal specialists in capital markets legislation, Professor Piperea published the study “Commercial companies, capital markets. Acquis communautaire”. Furthermore, he co-authored of the extended annotations and comments of the Law no. 31/1990 of commercial companies published in four editions (2001, 2002, 2006 and 2009) released by C.H. Beck Printing House. Within the same legal area, Gheorghe Piperea also published “Commercial companies: regulation, doctrine, jurisprudence” and “The obligations and the responsibility of the administrators of a commercial company’”, both published by CH Beck Printing House.  Among the reference articles that Gheorghe Piperea wrote we find worth mentioning “The juridical system of fiscal transparency”, “The Proprietatea Fund will short-circuit the business environment” and “Resistance to change comes from the state owned companies”.

Cătălin Antonache

Cătălin Antonache is co-founder of Piperea & Asociaţii and a member of the Bucharest Bar Association since 2002. He has a solid expertise in commercial company law, real property, litigation & arbitration and insolvency.
